Samantha Meserati is a Queens-Born, NYC-Based artist currently residing in the West Village and worked as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer doing High Risk OB/GYN for 10 years. Outside of that, she is a vitamin D advocate and entrepreneur.
Both of Samantha’s parents graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T) and have been sought out hairdressers for over 40 years. As a young girl she would look through her parents’ portfolios and get inspired. Samantha has always kept her dreams of being an artist on the back burner pursuing painting as a hobby and a passion of hers behind closed doors.
Inspired by her parents’ artist background Samantha has been painting on and off since she was 15 years old. As a young adult she battled with depression and physical traumas, drawing courage and inspiration from these struggles, she turned to painting after every battle. "My depression helped me find art again. It pushed me into a corner
that I thought would never get out of. Yet some how, after falling
over and over again, I finally was able to paint myself a ladder, to
help me slowly stand up." She says at the time, "It gave me a better perspective and
understanding. A bird’s eye view, if you will.
Art on the other hand, gave me purpose. It gave me strength to finally
express myself, without question. The whole process on both depression
and art, kind of go hand in hand. Art has definitely been a way for me
to exercise my demons. It has been a truly humbling journey."
Art became a therapy for her, using color in her life to spark happiness. She has traditionally favored acrylic paint and is now starting to branch off with different mediums like oils.
In 2016 Samantha had a spiritual shift and her love affair with painting became a healthy obsession. In a bold move, she eliminated all the major toxins from her life, reset her habits and started practicing gratitude. People started noticing her artwork and her positive attitude. Doors started opening and amazing opportunities started to arise. This transition has allowed Samantha to do amazing things over the past year and to contribute service to the world. She recently traveled on a medical mission to a small village in Haiti called Belle Anse. The trip was true inspiration and did wonders for her creatively. When she returned home, she was inspired to combine her passions; art and wellness. Her interest and advocacy in micro-nutrients sparked her entrepreneurial side to start her own vitamin brand "Boo Blue" (boobluecow.com) while, using her art as the label and the brand.
For Samantha, the world is her oyster. She’s eager to start this new journey and see how her art transforms over time. "That being said, I had to take a break
from my OBGYN duties, and have been painting full time.
My art has blossomed in many different directions, from portraits to
abstracts, and everything in between. I have been so busy with
projects locally and now my paintings have spread all over the world.
I can't wait to explore my art career fully, to see where it goes. I’m
excited to have my work reach new audiences, new genres, and even
first time art lovers. I want people to look at my art, to feel the
raw passion I put into it. And maybe, maybe even influence the next
little girl, to find her way, with no apologies or explanation. To
stand in the face of adversity, and say YES I DID!
